Career Management

It has been a while since, born and die in the same company is not a rule neither a dream of most executives. But there are still some who – consciously or not – outsource the management of their careers to the companies which they work for. Some sentences which characterize this behavior are something life: “The company does not recognize me”, “My boss does not give me opportunities”, “I am to be expatriated but HR keeps refusing it”, “I will have to wait for that guy to retire so I can be promoted”. Does it make sense to be like that in the middle of the Knowledge Era?Who should be in charge of someone’s career: the person herself, the manager, HR or the “company”? Until when smart people, full of potential, will delegate to others the creation of their own future?

What do you think about it? Who takes care of your career? Do you outsource it?
